Neuköllner Oper, 2013
No, certainly not! This is not an opera about Klaus Wowereit and his top crew from BER! However, Rossini has already anticipated the disaster in Schoenefeld. In his comic opera „Il viaggio a Reims“, men and women under a lot of pressure show what is happening when the carriages don`t arrive and the long journey to the king fails. Then again, can you get past such an opera when it is performed live in such an impressive production? But since a whole evening about German top politicians and the construction industry lobby would be too much of an honour and rather a case for cabaret, AiRossini is about the difficult life of leading business managers from all over the world (meaning those, who really make a difference). Of all possible destinations, BERlin is the location of the world conference on solving global problems. Taking off? … If only they could! Because BER is not operating, despite its 15th postponement. However, we are guaranteed to open shortly after the anniversary of the actual opening (and keep the budget).
As managers of our BER project, we have engaged a crisis-proven board: the makers of ‘Yasou Aida!’, Giuseppe Verdi’s piece about a stumbling Greece and its fairly best friends in the EU.
